Château
Lescourre AOC Graves Rouge
The
Château Lescourre is located in the rustic village
of Illats at the heart of the AOC Graves region.
Halfway between the rich Garonne river valley and the edge
of the pristine deep forest of Gascogne, the Château
Lescourre benefits from an ideal environment for the culture
of wine.
The vines are grown in the rocky and sandy earth that is typical
of the Bordeaux Graves region and is the ideal nurturing terrain
for the vines. The vineyard has a density of approximately
6,000 plants per hectare which offers a perfect
balance – a harmonious distribution of the vines whilst
maintaining ample space between the vine rows for traditional
manual work on the land.
The Château Lescourre is an elegant blend that marries
together the Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot breeds.
The blend is predominantly Cabernet-Sauvignon (70%) with its
classical notes, and is completed by an infusion of Merlot’s
fruity and full flavoured tones and lush colour. This results
in a quality and aromatic wine that is “rond”
(supple).
The Château Lescourre can be drunk at a young age but
equally, it has outstanding evolution potential and can be
kept for over 20 years.

Cru
Pebayle AOC Sauternes
The
Cru Pebayle is located in the picturesque village of Barsac,
one of the 5 original villages that comprise the distinguished
Sauternes area. The Cru Pebayle benefits from a double
branding: “Sauternes” and “Barsac”.
The grounds of the Cru Pebayle are essentially “argilo-calcaire”,
which is typical of the Sauternes area. The existing vines
in this venerable vineyard were first seeded by the Ducau
family over 50 years ago. Every year, damaged plants are replaced,
maintaining utmost quality and productivity. Because of its
age, the vineyard requires very special and conscientious
care. However, it is this very antiquated nature that lends
an added boost to the overall excellence of the wine.
This vineyard has a relatively high density with 7,000
plants per hectare.
This limits the ultimate production per plant and thus assures
the highest quality. Each plant produces a maximum of 30cl
of wine (equivalent of 1½ glasses) each year.
The Cru Pebayle is composed of a single breed – “sémillon”,
the quintessential breed of the Sauternes area whose unique
characteristics facilitate the development of the botrytis
cinéréa.
It is in the winemaking process that the winemaker works his
magic, conjuring time-honoured techniques that have been passed
down over generations: the detailed pruning of the plants,
treatment of the soil, conditioning of the grapes, systematically
removal of leaves starting from July and finally the traditional
manual harvest of the grapes with selective and repetitive
pick-up in order to collect only the finest and most matured
fruits.
Thanks to a combination of all these unique elements, the
Cru Pebayle is a wine with an exceptional ageing potential
(up to 50 years for the best vintage years). Although it will
also express all its virtues and aromas after just a few years
thanks to the immense dedicated care during the wine making
process.
